Inspiration

The speed of human imagination is constantly bottlenecked by the tedious, manual steps required to digitalize an idea. As software engineers, the friction between a brilliant whiteboard concept and a deployable digital asset is a daily struggle. We want to bridge this gap completely. The Logitech MX Ink on Meta Quest provides the perfect canvas—a way to step inside our ideas and sketch spatially with the natural feel of a real pen. But to make those sketches functional, we need an intelligent engine. We designed InkFlow to be the ultimate creative catalyst, merging the physical intuition of drawing with the limitless possibilities of generative AI to eliminate the middle steps of digital design.

What it does

InkFlow is conceptualized as an AI-powered spatial design studio for the Meta Quest. Using the precision of the Logitech MX Ink, users will be able to physically sketch rough UI wireframes, character outlines, or marketing poster layouts directly in a mixed reality environment. Once the sketch is complete, our AI engine will process the spatial strokes and instantly generate high-fidelity, production-ready assets. Whether it’s converting a rough cluster of rectangles into a clean frontend UI component, turning a stick figure into a polished 2D game sprite, or rendering a cinematic poster from a spatial doodle, InkFlow will turn fleeting ideas into deployable assets in seconds.

How we built it

Note: As this is the initial textual proposal phase, this outlines our architectural blueprint and planned tech stack.

We are designing the core mixed-reality workspace to be built in Unity utilizing the Meta Quest SDK. The true magic of the application will rely on integrating the Logitech MX Ink SDK. We plan to heavily utilize its pressure sensitivity, 6DoF tracking accuracy, and haptic feedback to capture the exact nuance of the user's strokes, ensuring the AI receives the most expressive input possible. These spatial coordinates and 2D projections will be bundled and sent to our custom generative AI pipeline via API. This backend will leverage multimodal vision models to interpret the intent of the sketch, generate the high-fidelity asset, and project it right back into the user's MR workspace on a virtual canvas.

Challenges we ran into

During our extensive ideation and technical feasibility research, we identified our biggest anticipated challenge: accurately translating 3D spatial strokes into a 2D format that our AI models can process without losing the user's original design intent. Furthermore, mapping the virtual ink to accurately reflect the MX Ink's physical pressure—while maintaining a latency-free, satisfying "pen on paper" feel in mid-air—will require rigorous optimization and iterative testing once we have the hardware in hand.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

At this proposal stage, we are incredibly proud of engineering a highly viable, scalable architectural blueprint. We have successfully mapped out the data pipeline bridging the Logitech MX Ink’s precise hardware inputs with a complex generative AI backend. We’ve designed a system that doesn't just use spatial computing as a novelty, but solves a massive, real-world productivity bottleneck for developers and creators.

What we learned

In researching the MX Ink's capabilities and the Meta Quest ecosystem for this proposal, we learned that the precision of the input device is the ultimate multiplier for generative AI. If you give an AI accurate, nuanced, human-driven strokes rather than clunky controller movements, the potential output quality skyrockets. We discovered that combining tactile hardware with spatial design fundamentally changes how intuitively a user can express complex visual ideas.

What's next for InkFlow: MX Ink Sketch-to-Asset

The immediate next step is advancing to the second round, securing the MX Ink hardware, and bringing this prototype to life. Once the core sketching and AI-generation loop is validated in the headset, our roadmap includes building direct ecosystem integrations. We plan to allow users to export their generated UI straight to Figma or as raw frontend code, and push generated game sprites directly into a Unity project. Ultimately, InkFlow aims to become the standard bridge between spatial ideation and traditional 2D/3D development environments.
