Inspiration

There are millions of people worldwide who have lost work or whose lives have been disrupted as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. We want to develop a web based platform (consisting of a website, web services and mobile apps) that will share information, educate, and enable the discovery of opportunities for work around these people in a way that makes it easy to discover work they can do from home or with minimal travel.

We believe that new kinds of opportunities are going to arise out of the changes brought about by the crisis and as people learn to respond to the challenges they will be more open to acquiring the new skills required to find and work differently. This will result in the creation of a new sector of society, the ones who work at home, that's the rationale for the InHouse Network. We aim to create a channel for people to grow into business owners and entrepreneurs and for businesses to create and share opportunities with those who work from home.

What it does

We aim at aiding the well being of those who may have lost their source of income as a result of the crisis. The platform will connect members of the community that work from home so they can share opportunities, skills and find work that they can do from home with each other. It will also connect businesses that would like to outsource some tasks to one-time or regular "InHouse" team members without requiring them to leave the house to start working.

How we built it

We're building our Minimum viable product using Javascript and HTML5 frontend, PHP and MariaDB in the back end, because the team can work fastest using this stack.

Challenges we ran into

We are working from different locations due to the lock-down so we're communicating via chat, calls and collaborating using version control, normally we'd get the team in the same room and brain storm but this work environment is a first for us.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're glad to have some members joining the team from different countries, UAE and Estonia so far and we're hoping to making this work for communities worldwide.
