Inspiration

Cancer is responsible for on average 241 deaths per day in Canada. Tyrosine Kinase inhibitor drugs have proven to be an effective drug to curb cancerous tissue growth. However, determining the inhibitor used can be challenging, as they can affect other kinases and be toxic.

What it does

Our project is a machine learning tool that determines the affinity of inhibitors for different kinases, allowing for researchers to pick those that target the mutant kinases present in cancer cells.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Building a functioning model from scratch despite our hopes being extremely bleak at first.

What we learned

Persistence is key. The amount of problems we fixed within the span of 24 hours was extraordinary.
