Inspiration The inspiration behind this project came from the challenges many female entrepreneurs and fashion students face: the difficulty of finding qualified and affordable pattern makers. After years of working with major brands and ateliers, I realized how much proper pattern making can transform a collection—and how limited access to this service still is for those just starting out. That's why I decided to create a practical, affordable, and professional solution for anyone who wants high-quality patterns, even without advanced experience.
What it does The platform offers ready-to-download sewing patterns, personalized support via WhatsApp, and step-by-step instructional materials that guide users from cutting to final stitching. Additionally, businesses and ateliers can request custom-made patterns without needing to employ a full-time pattern maker, reducing costs and increasing efficiency.
How we built it We used a simple and functional e-commerce structure to make the purchase and access process easy. The pattern files are provided in formats compatible with both home and professional printing. Customer support is offered in a personalized way, through instructional videos, guides, and direct consultations via WhatsApp.
Challenges we ran into One of the biggest challenges was translating the complexity of pattern making into a language that’s accessible to people with varying levels of technical knowledge. We also had to ensure that the patterns worked well with different types of printers and that the buying process was intuitive—even for those not familiar with digital platforms.
Accomplishments that we're proud of We are proud to have helped hundreds of women take the first steps in launching their fashion brands by providing access to professional-grade pattern making. We’re also honored that our patterns have been used by ateliers creating clothing for artists and by major national fashion brands.
What we learned We learned that the key is listening to the customer. Every question asked on WhatsApp became an opportunity to improve. We also discovered the power of accessibility: when language, support, and pricing are designed with the right audience in mind, the impact is real.
What's next for Ingryd Lourenço Next, we plan to expand our pattern collection, launch quick courses in sewing and pattern making, and develop a subscription area where users can access new patterns and exclusive content each month. We're also exploring ways to automate the initial customer service experience with a chatbot—without sacrificing the quality of our human support.
