The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that each year, around 48,000,000 individuals become sick from a foodborne illness, 128,000 are hospitalized, and 3,000 die.
What It Does
INFUSION enables users to filter as well as sort through a dataset that details food inspection details such as location, risk level, and violations, in order to prevent foodborne illness. Users are able to receive alerts and notifications based on their City and or Zip code, so whenever new data comes in that is harmful, users would be notified about places that have unsafe food. In addition, after users receive an alert, users are asked if the data was helpful or not in order to get insights, which are then added to our own dashboard.
Process Of Building
- Backend (API With Node JS + Express JS) Returns Food Inspection Data To Frontend (Figma / React JS)
- Alerts/Notifications (SendGrid → Email Alerts / Twilio → SMS Alerts): Database Holds List Of Subscriber Users → Backend API Checks For New Data On Scheduled Bases + Alerts Users That Exist In Our Database Via Email / SMS.
