Inspiration
We want to make the school campus a bit more welcoming(not that any of us have actually been on real campus cuz covid) and inclusive by being a bit more understanding to those around us.
What it does
This app allows us to better understand others around us without directly asking them on topics that would otherwise be insensitive, such as gender, pronoun, and/or age.
How we built it
We used React-Native to build the UI and FireBase, FireStore, and FireAuth to store information/location that the user input.
Challenges we ran into
Since we are all new to coding, we basically have no idea how to start, and React-Native's syntax is very unforgiving. On top of that, we couldn't figure out how to integrate FireBase into our code to make sure that we retrieve the right information from FireBase. The UI is pretty rough as well since we spend most of our time debugging backend problems
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Wow we finished and coded our first-ever app. We learned how to actually utilize ReactNative and FireBase by watching countless tutorials while trying to apply those lessons to our app.
What we learned
We learned how to code in React-Native and utilize FireBase
What's next for InfoMe
InfoMe has much more potentials. We can also store information similar to what a business card would look like and not just limited to what we currently have. This way, the more information we store would be more information one can share with others if they choose to
