Inspiration
Online fashion is often modeled by 6-foot-tall individuals with perfect features—but the reality is, most people don’t look like that. Many users struggle to resonate with such idealized standards and are left wondering whether a particular look will suit them or not. This creates hesitation and confusion while shopping. I wanted to change that. My goal with Influstyle is to make fashion more relatable, inclusive, and personalized—so every individual can find styles that truly suit them. I want to help people shop confidently and, in the long run, help make India look good—one personalized outfit at a time.
What it does
Influstyle is a fashion shopping platform designed to help users: Discover influencers who look like them (feature in progress) Get personalized fashion suggestions based on their body type and skin tone (coming soon) Compare prices across platforms to find the best deal (scraper under development) Explore a customized fashion feed powered by AI (feed base is set up, model integration in progress) Currently, the frontend and backend infrastructure is fully ready for deployment, enabling user authentication, profile management, and product browsing.
How we built it
We used:
- Bolt (a powerful React + Node.js boilerplate) to rapidly set up and structure the project
- React for frontend interface
- Express.js for backend APIs
- PostgreSQL for robust data storage
- Tools like Cloudinary for image handling Placeholder APIs and mock data for influencer and product suggestions (while the AI model and scraping tool are being developed
Challenges we ran into
- Building a working full-stack prototype under tight time limits
- Starting the AI model training process with limited datasets
- Developing a stable scraping pipeline while handling product data variability
- Creating a UI that feels personalized even before AI integration
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Successfully built and connected a functional frontend and backend
- Used Bolt to save hours in setting up best practices for backend/frontend integration
- Designed the structure for influencer matching and personalization engine
- Created a clean, responsive user experience that’s ready for AI feature plug-ins
What we learned
1.How to efficiently structure a full-stack project using starter kits like Bolt
- The importance of defining data models and API endpoints early in the process
- How to prototype future AI-powered features even when the models aren’t fully trained
- Better project scoping and progress planning during hackathons
What's next for influstyle
- Finish training the AI model to recommend fashion based on user traits
- Complete the price comparison tool using web scraping and APIs
- Integrate influencer matching through facial embedding and similarity detection
- Launch a fully personalized shopping feed
- Explore affiliate integrations and monetization options
