Inspiration

Based on the high inflation regarding food, we have researched what possibilities exist. We came across an article in Die Zeit that pointed out that the inflation of different groceries varies greatly. After further research, we didn't find a tool that helps you make smart and actionable decisions based ingredient inflation, so we took it into our own hands and to HackaTUM.

What it does

It solves the problem what to eat while saving money. With Influide you can explore new recipes and get an indication which dishes are smarter to cook in times of high inflation. All recipes include a score indicating the saving relative to a reference score (overall grocery inflation). If chosen a recipe the ingredients can be conveniently bought online and simple instructions will guide you through the preparation.

Based on your likes you will get recommendations for the next meal. Finding the perfect meal for every occasion is made easy with the recommendations and additional filtering options.

If your recipe is not yet on our platform, you can fill in the ingredients and get an assessment how smart the recipe is.

You can also save your cooked recipes (for later) and always stay ahead on your savings.

How we built it

It is a simple web application (Angular WebApp) accessible by everyone for free and without ads, not requiring any authentication or complicated registration. You get precise recommendations based on your likes.

For our score calculations we used official German Inflation Rates published by DEStatis. The score of each recipe is calculated with our formula:

recipeInflation = referenceScore - Sum of (ingredientReferencePricePerUnit * ingredientWeihtingFactorOnRecipe)
