What it does
It is a application allows users to explore unlimited virtual space on specific physical path based on room-scale mode. The required space is 3.2m by 2.5m.
How we built it
I use Unity Engine with Meta Oculus quest series to develop this system. It is based on redirected walking techniques. Each time user passes the corners, their physical rotations of 270 degrees would be manipulated into virtual rotations of 180 degrees. When users go around the actual figure-eight path, they continue to move forward in S-shape in the virtual environment.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We carried out a small experiment asking subjects to draw "Virtual-seen" and " Body-perceived " path without knowing the actual walking path. The two paths are highly identical which means that this redirection technique is almost imperceptible.
Note: This project is the Version 2 of my previous project. I reduced the required space, change the walking path and think about how to connect it to other software. If this is against the rules, please ignore this submission.
