Inspiration

I was inspired most by 'idler' games like Cookie Clicker or Universal Paperclips where you put in some manual work in the beginning, but then eventually you automate the work and earn exponentially more than you were earning manually.

What it does

The game starts out very simple - the player is able to shoot a one-point free throw with a 75% chance to make it. If they do, they score one point, and if not, they have to shoot again. Slowly but surely, through unlocking higher-point shots, better shooting percentages, and finally hiring other players to shoot for them, they can start scoring hundreds of points a second.

How I built it

This project was built using React and Chakra UI with code in Javascript and CSS. These are all things that I have used before, but it's been almost a year since I last did.

Challenges I ran into

Getting back into React, Chakra, JS, and CSS definitely took a few hours of getting used to, and I had to arrive at the hackathon 6 hours late so working with less time was something I knew was coming but did have to plan for.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I'm very proud of being able to host this on a website through GoDaddy and GitHub Pages. I've attempted to host my projects before but it's never gone this easily or successfully. Going into the project I had no intention of hosting it, so it was a great bonus.

What's next for infinihoops

Going to infinity! With more time, I definitely would like to make more modules that increase the number of points higher and faster. Many of these idle games I was inspired by go to numbers that have to use "e", so it'd be fun to make that happen in infinihoops.
