Inspiration
When we first came together as a team, we realized that we had one huge thing in common, we all love to travel. As a team looking to empower other women and POCs, we realized that there aren't many resources dedicated to making us feel safe while traveling, especially considering the increasing crime rates in every country. So, our website aims to bridge this gap.
What it does
Our platform aims to create a sense of community along WOC and people of underrepresented genders by giving them the means to travel alone while safely meeting new people along the way. We provide statistics on the safest countries, safest places to visit in each country, and provide a way to ask and answer questions, for women by women! One of our main features is the 'connection program' which provides a way for these POC to connect with other solo globe trotters, talk to them, learn from them, and maybe even provide a house to stay in!
How we built it
We built this project entirely on HTML, CSS and JS.
Challenges we ran into
One of our main challenges was narrowing down our core service because we had so many ideas to go off of and had so many passions that we wanted to pursue. We also had other issues figuring out Github and how we can all contribute in a fashionable manner.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of our idea, how the website turned out, and the goals that we hope to accomplish with the project!
What we learned
We learned more about our passions, and how we can apply them in the real world to make a real difference. We also learned a lot more about HTML, CSS and JS than we knew before, and spent a lot of time trying to understand Git and Github.
What's next for IndyDream
We hope to make the UI/UX aspects of the website better and incorporate each element into the website fully.
