We have since settled on utilizing Wifi, Pedestrian Dead Reckoning (PDR) and magnetometer for our localization. Wifi scans available access points every 30 seconds and provides use with an update of the users absolute position. To fill in the gaps between Wifi scans, we utilize PDR and magnetometer localization to provide relative motion. PDR counts the steps a user takes and their bearing to predict their location. Magnetometer detects the change in magnetic field as the user moves to estimate the users motion.
