InspirationI: I wanted to build a poetic AI companion that reflects emotional states through symbolic UX—especially for neurodivergent creators navigating cycles of overwhelm and creative hype. KIRO’s spec-driven IDE offered the perfect scaffolding for modular, emotionally-aware design.

What it does

Offers 3 modes: Focus, Grounding, Inspiration — each with curated poetic insights.

Provides a mood check-in (🌧 drained, 🌤 okay, 🌞 bright) and responds with supportive messages.

Uses a calm design: glowing card, animated gradients, minimal clutter.

Keeps interactions simple and accessible, so anyone can use it without stress. It offers poetic insights, fallback journaling, and archetypal reflections—designed to work both online and offline. The experience blends mythic tech, emotional UX, and sovereign design.

How we built it

Built entirely in the Kiro IDE using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Kiro’s Vibe Agent helped prototype quickly and handle UI/logic without heavy setup. Used KIRO IDE to scaffold Spec blocks: InsightEngine, MirrorPanel, and FallbackJournal Structured emotional logic and fallback flows using hooks and steering logic Integrated local AI insights via Ollama, using quantized models for offline fallback Later extended with Groq API key for dynamic insight generation and faster cloud inference Designed scroll-driven UX with privacy-first principles and symbolic emotional states

Uploaded .kiro specs directly to GitHub for IDE compatibility and reproducibility The project is lightweight, self-contained, and runs locally or in any browser.

Challenges we ran into

Keeping the app gentle instead of overloading it with features. GitHub UI doesn’t support .kiro folders well, so I included a ZIP file to preserve structure

Managed creative exhaustion with ritual resets and fallback systems

Balanced poetic UX with technical constraints (RAM, quantization, model switching)

Navigated platform limitations while maintaining sovereignty and emotional clarity

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Building a complete, working app even while recovering from burnout.

Staying true to the vision of inclusivity and neurodivergent-friendly design.

Using AI tools (Kiro) not just for speed, but to create something soothing and human-centered.

What we learned

Simplicity can be powerful.

Hackathon projects don’t need to be complex to matter.

AI tools like Kiro can accelerate creation while letting the builder focus on meaning.

What's next for Indigo Soul Companion

Expand Soul Mirror into a full Neurodivergent Companion agent

Integrate voice UX and archetype engine for deeper emotional resonance

Build Serendipity Lab as a mythic tech platform for emotionally-aware onboarding and ritual activation

Advocate for open-source, decentralized AI that honors human rhythm and intuition. Personalization (daily streaks, saving mood history).

Optional looping background sounds for sensory grounding.

Open-source contribution so others can share new insights or modes.
