Inspiration

Inspiration to build Tulip is the fact that after the system erasure that Native American tribes have faced since colonization, emergent technology can help Indigenous communities thrive in the modern world.

What it does

Tulip introduces herself to the world through emergent technology, a great portal to revitalize and sustain Indigenous languages.

How we built it

Tulip makes her debut to the world through the Samsung Odyssey 3D Monitor with Immersity. We used Blender 3D and Vroid Studio to make the Tulip character and Motion Capture to animate the model, used Blender 3D to create the virtual environment and then we projected Tulip with Samsung Odyssey 3D Monitor with Immersity.

Challenges we ran into

Rigging the 3D model correctly, rendering animation in eevee, and the snow storm that hit Reality Hack!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This is a concept drawn from over 10 years ago. With the present skill set and technology, Tulip was made possible.

What we learned

Motion Capture, 3D character animation, Samsung Odyssey 3D Monitor with Immersity.

What's next for Indigenous Futurism

Create multidimensional cross platform access for users.

We'll be updating this page with BTS from the process and explorations! Akilah was an amazing creative partner and I'm excited to see how this vision continues to evolve. It was a privilege to support Akilah's vision and creativity at Reality Hack.
