PROBLEM
Customers are often unaware of what is available at the farmer’s market and what products are in season. Inability to attend every farmer’s market remains a constant issue, causing a gap between the farmers and their customers. Bridging this gap in an efficient way is necessary to fulfill all the needs of the customers while ensuring a source of revenue for the farmers.
SOLUTION
We have developed a mobile app where farmers can present the goods they plan to sell at the farmer’s markets and customers can convey their needs and requirements to farmers.
MARKET SIZE
As the 10th largest farming state of the USA, Indiana is the home for 94,000 farmers. The population of Indiana is 6.732 million. Our app would cater the needs of all the farmers and the population of Indiana. We aim to expand our services to the whole of the United States.
COMPETITION
Some of the competitions include but are not limited to big retailers like Walmart, farmer management software like Agrivi and e-shopping services like Amazon.
BUSINESS MODEL
We use the model Subscription as a service as the business model for our application. Farmers will be required to pay a monthly membership fee.
MARKETING AND SALES
Our motive is to leverage the farmer-to-customer interaction and satisfy both the farmers and the customer.
PROGRESS TO DATE
Till date, we have successfully built a prototype of the app. We are now working on the development of the app on mobile devices.
FUTURE MILESTONES
We hope to hire a marketing advisor and build a name for the application. After interviewing some pilot users, we will begin marketing our application with the goal of establishing relationships with farmers. By the end of February, we hope to launch our application.
