The travel and tourism industry is undoubtedly one of the most affected industries due to the pandemic. But that shouldn’t stop us from innovating new products and solutions on the tourism front. The transition to Working from Home is here to stay and it will exponentially increase the digital nomad culture in the coming time. My solution is going to address the challenges pertaining to potential tourists planning to visit India. It will address some of the key pre-travel challenges along with the challenges that the tourist might face during his visit.
What it does
The Indian Traveler Alexa Skill broadly addresses these themes -
Ease of Plan: Travel details are never so easy to search. It usually consumes several hours of searching and planning.
Travel Requirements: People traveling to a place for the first time can’t finalize the itinerary or the packing list for their trip easily.
Foreign Travelers: Travelers planning to visit a new country for the first time generally don’t have the details about visas and other documents required and end up searching multiple websites for answers.

Challenges I ran into
Building a contextual conversational experience in itself was a big challenge. Forming the mental model to tackle voice as well as multimodal technologies was a hefty task.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I was able to embrace the nitty-gritty of APL and ended up building an Alexa skill that leverages the multimodal technologies to provide the best in class contextual conversational experience to the end-user.
What I learned
No matter how pro you are at something, tackling a new technology puts you into the same shoes as everyone and the challenges are far tougher than they initially seem.
What's next for Indian Traveler
I would love to add some Indian games and quizzes to the Indian Traveler Alexa Skill and also make it available globally.
