Inspiration

India has over 7 million Hindu temples, but most remain undocumented, unknown to travelers, and missing from modern tourism platforms. Their historical value risks being forgotten as they are not digitized or explained in simple language for the youth. We wanted to preserve this cultural and spiritual treasure and make it accessible to everyone.

What it does

India Unfolded is a futuristic yet culturally inspired platform that helps users discover hidden temples across India. It offers:

• A smart itinerary planner for temple tourism
• Legends + architecture narratives for each temple
• Interactive map of temple circuits
• Multilingual responses (Regional languages + English)
• Verified heritage data from trusted sources

How we built it

We designed a Base44-powered prototype focused on Telangana & Andhra Pradesh. Key technologies and methods:

• Heritage data research and structuring
• Interactive UI built with modern design principles
• Backend to serve temple information and map-based discovery
• Localized content generation for youth-friendly learning

Challenges we ran into

• Gathering reliable historical data and verifying authenticity
• Difficulty in mapping lesser-known temples not found on major platforms
• Designing UI that balances futuristic aesthetics with heritage essence
• Condensing deep mythological stories into short, engaging content

What's next for India Unfolded

• Expand coverage from two states to all of Bharat
• Add AR/VR-based temple tours and 3D heritage reconstructions
