Inspiration
Among the one in six women who say they needed and sought mental health care services but were unable to get an appointment (16%) (kff.org)
About 20% of children with mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders receive care from a specialized mental health care provider (cdc.gov)
3.6 million Americans with travel-limiting disabilities do not leave their homes because they are disabled or housebound. (BTS.gov)
In response to the underrepresentation of minority groups, particularly women, disabled individuals, and young children, in accessing specialized services, the 'Safe Route' initiative was developed. This initiative draws inspiration from the imperative to ensure equitable access to essential services and facilities. Safe Route encompasses a range of strategies including infrastructure improvements, safety measures, educational campaigns, community engagement, and support services tailored to the specific needs of these marginalized groups. Its overarching goal is to foster a more inclusive and secure environment, thereby enhancing the well-being and safety of all community members."
What it does
We've established Safe Route as a sanctuary where individuals can seek refuge in safe environments and benefit from the expert guidance provided by our professional staff. Our primary focus is on serving individuals with disabilities, children, and women.
How we built it
We built the website with mainly used MERNStack and Bootstrap for the front-end, and MongoDB for the database. For API, we use the Calendly and Google Map API to create the Map for Woman, Children and Disable.
Challenges we ran into
We have plenty out of time so it will be hard for us to finish in the short time; Moreover, using MERNStack and MongoDB for the back-end was harder than our thought that took us a lot of time to learn
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are trying to study every time and our teamwork is smoothly. Moreover, one of our big achievement is creating a full-stack web around 13 hours hours which make us felt proud about that.
What we learned
We learn about how to make a team contribution and teamwork together; as well as guideline and make the deadline for each section. We also learn about project managing and pushing our motivation together as well.
Future Improvement/Development
We will develop more in user database and improving the real-time map report. In the long future, we will deploy the function for instant video call in our website.
We will also update and improve our User Interface and User Experience.
