Inspiration
league of women voters site.
What it does
It would have allowed people to see what "3rd party" options exists for local, state and federal elections they have a stake in. It would have displayed bios, links to news articles, politifact etc. At the end, if a citizen likes the candidate but does not believe they can garner support, they can commit their own support saying that if enough people do the same then seeing that they have the support you would vote for them.
How I built it
I spun up an amazon web server and mysql database getting ready to connect the two in order to save candidates and people's commited support.
Challenges I ran into
Amazon web service would intermittently allow and disallow ssh traffic form my ip. The inbound traffic rule I set up would change on it's own repeated.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
pushing through my discomfort with web development to attempt to make this project with such strong social impact.
What I learned
I learned how to navigate aws dash system and set up connection rules and establish connection between different elements spun up with aws.
What's next for InclusivePolitics
I will continue development to get to a functional state as I believe in the social message this project supplies
