Inspiration

Millions of people, especially parents, teachers, and community organizers, struggle with design tools. Many lack the technical skills, time, or confidence to create accessible, professional materials for their communities. Worse still, individuals with disabilities often face barriers when trying to engage with visual platforms like Adobe Express.

Inclusive Express AI was inspired by a simple belief: design should be effortless, inclusive, and accessible for everyone.

The project combines my passion for AI, accessibility, and community empowerment into a tool that helps both novice users and individuals with disabilities create beautiful, compliant designs, just by speaking.

What It Does

Inclusive Express AI is an AI-powered, voice-first Add-on concept for Adobe Express. It enables users of all abilities to:

  • Create accessible flyers, posters, and invites — hands-free
  • Engage in natural conversation with AI to describe their design needs
  • Receive real-time feedback, accessibility improvements, and inclusive design suggestions
  • Control designs entirely through speech, ideal for busy parents, teachers, beginners, and users with mobility or visual impairments

By simply speaking, users can generate polished, accessible designs inside Adobe Express without worrying about technical hurdles.

How it was Built

To bring Inclusive Express AI to life for this hackathon:

  • I designed and developed a standalone web prototype simulating an Adobe Express Add-on
  • Leveraged Speech-to-Text (STT) for capturing user requests
  • Integrated Text-to-Speech (TTS) to provide AI voice responses and guidance
  • Applied logical, intelligent conversational flow, the AI listens, responds, and waits for the user's next command
  • Deployed the prototype publicly to demonstrate feasibility inside Adobe Express Playground
  • Built using open web technologies (HTML, JavaScript, React) with accessibility and inclusivity principles at the core

Challenges faced

Bringing this concept to life wasn't without obstacles:

  • Ensuring cross-browser compatibility, especially managing speech features in Edge vs. Chrome
  • Designing a conversational AI that feels natural — avoiding awkward loops or constant listening
  • Balancing simplicity for non-technical users with powerful, meaningful functionality
  • Building a prototype fast, while considering real-world accessibility standards like WCAG

These challenges reinforced the need for thoughtful design, user testing, and accessibility-first development.

Accomplishments That I am Proud Of

Despite time constraints, I successfully:

  • Created a working, voice-controlled design prototype
  • Demonstrated logical, user-friendly AI interaction
  • Integrated accessibility alerts and inclusive design coaching
  • Showcased how Adobe Express can become even more inclusive and effortless for all users
  • Positioned Inclusive Express AI as a tool to empower non-designers and promote accessibility at scale

What I Learned

This project deepened my understanding of:

  • Conversational AI design — building voice-first tools with real usability
  • The importance of accessibility beyond compliance — making tools genuinely inclusive
  • Challenges faced by disabled users, non-technical creators, and community organizers
  • How Adobe Express can be expanded with Add-ons to reach more diverse users

The hackathon also reinforced how rapid prototyping with open tools can bring impactful ideas to life quickly.

What's Next for Inclusive Express AI

Winning this hackathon would allow me to:

  • Collaborate with Adobe mentors to integrate Inclusive Express AI directly into Adobe Express
  • Expand the Add-on to support real-time design generation, deep accessibility testing, and cultural sensitivity filters
  • Enhance the AI assistant to provide smarter, personalized design guidance
  • Conduct user testing with disabled individuals, teachers, and community groups
  • Continue building toward a world where design is effortless, inclusive, and accessible for everyone

Inclusive Express AI has the potential to break down design barriers, and I'm ready to make that vision a reality.
