Summary
Why Incusiv? -> Because everyone deserves a seat at the table.
🚀 Project Snapshot
Team: Siddhartha Dhakal (Backend + AI) & Avhi Sah (UI/UX + Research)
Tech Stack: Go, Hugging Face Transformers, TailwindCSS, Greenhouse API
Core Features: Inclusive job filtering, accessibility-first UI, AI-powered inclusivity detection
Built For: Job seekers from underrepresented and disabled communities
Inspiration
Summary: Over 70% of people with disabilities are unemployed worldwide—not due to lack of skills, but due to lack of opportunity. This isn’t just a stat. It’s a call to action.

It all started with a late-night conversation between two friends.
One of us had just watched a documentary about the struggles faced by people with disabilities in the job market. The other had a friend—smart, creative, skilled—who had been rejected from countless jobs, not for a lack of talent, but because companies weren't inclusive or even clear about their level of inclusivity. We were struck with a simple but powerful question:
**"Why isn't there a job portal that filters opportunities for inclusion the same way others filter for salary or location?"**
That question became a mission.
Inclusiv was born out of frustration—but more importantly, out of hope. Hope that technology, when done right, can make the world more accessible. We wanted to give underrepresented job seekers a better experience, and give inclusive companies the spotlight they deserve.
What it does
Inclusiv is a job portal that puts inclusivity first.
Built with accessibility and equity in mind, Inclusiv pulls real job postings from trusted APIs (like Greenhouse), analyzes them for signs of inclusive practices, and presents only those that meet specific accessibility and diversity criteria.
It highlights:
- Remote work opportunities
- Diversity & Inclusion (DEI) statements
- Accessibility-focused benefits
- Inclusive language and tone
It's more than a filter—it's a companion for people who deserve better than the job-search status quo.
How we built it
Inclusiv was built by two friends: Siddhartha Dhakal (backend, AI integration) and Avhi Sah (UI/UX and research).
We brainstormed the idea together, dividing tasks based on our strengths. Siddhartha took the lead on setting up the backend with Go, creating job-fetching pipelines from APIs, and integrating inclusive detection using AI. He spent countless hours tweaking job scoring models and designing APIs.
Avhi, on the other hand, immersed himself in the world of accessibility. He designed a frontend that's not only beautiful but also usable for people who rely on screen readers or keyboard navigation. He researched what makes job portals inaccessible—and reversed that.
Together, we combined empathy and engineering.
Challenges we ran into
We wish we could say it was smooth sailing—but let’s be honest, it wasn’t.
AI Sourcing: Finding an AI model that could detect inclusivity in job descriptions was hard. Most were paid, gated, or not tuned for our use-case. After days of trial and error, we finally settled on Hugging Face, which had free models we could adapt.
Frontend Development: Let's just say... neither of us loves CSS. The initial frontend was a Frankenstein of broken layouts. Thankfully, Avhi powered through by learning TailwindCSS and researching accessible design patterns.
Parsing API data: Different companies format their job listings differently. Building a generic, stable parser took time and patience.
But we did it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that we didn’t give up.
We’re proud that Inclusiv isn’t just another hackathon project. It’s real, it’s working, and it’s already fetching inclusive jobs for people who need them.
We’re proud of the small details: the alt text, the button contrast, the way the site speaks gently and clearly. Because that’s what accessibility is about.
And we’re proud that we built this with care, not just code.
What we learned
- We learned that AI is only as good as your understanding of the problem you’re solving.
- We learned that inclusive design isn’t an add-on—it’s a mindset.
- We learned that building something meaningful is less about being perfect, and more about being persistent.
- We learned that even two students with different strengths can build something powerful when united by purpose.
What's next for Inclusiv
We’ve got big dreams.
- Database support: Right now, we run in-memory. We're adding PostgreSQL for long-term storage and better analytics.
- Authentication (optional): For users who want personalized job tracking.
- Mobile app: Inclusiv in your pocket, anywhere.
- LinkedIn Integration: To auto-match job seekers with inclusive job openings based on their profile.
- Scalable hosting: We'll migrate from local deployment to a scalable cloud setup (likely on Railway or Fly.io).
- Employer dashboard: Where inclusive companies can proudly post and tag their roles.
Inclusiv isn’t finished—because the work of inclusion never is.
But we’re here. We’re building. And we’re not stopping anytime soon.
PS: Why "Inclusiv" without the "e"?
Because inclusion doesn’t need an extra letter. It just needs you.
