Inspiration

The program was established with the goal of providing women+ easy access to quality education. Despite the increase in literacy rates over the past 50 years, there are still a whopping 773 million illiterate individuals around the world today. Without proper education, the world holds little opportunity and hope for women+ people as the possibility of a healthy and productive life are very slim. The most common barrier preventing families is the struggle to pay school fees, and are sometimes forced to choose which child to send to school. Boys are the preferred choice, as girls are seen as valuable household help for domestic chores. Hence the program is for women+ individuals since they have fewer learning opportunities than men.

What it does

Include Project is an instructor led, project based teaching that is 4 months long. Each week features fixed courses in an internationally verified curriculum and teaching methods that are backed by intensive research to provide students with excellent quality education. There will be office hours everyday after school for 1 hour for students to ask questions or for clarifications from the teacher. There will also be biweekly seminars with industry experts in the computing field to help students network, develop connections as well as help them discover their interests and explore different career paths. #Include project aims to teach students how to tackle real-world problems and challenges their thinking to help them become future CEO’s and innovators!

We developed a website using the Django framework.

Challenges we ran into

The project requires a great deal of funding to purchase devices, pay the educators, and advertising
Students from low-income families may not afford a computer and the internet fee.

Created a proof of concept for the program to pitch to investors
Recorded sales pitch with a presentation to show to investors from across the globe.

What we learned

The fixed and variable costs that are associated with developing a new company
Learned how to think critically, problem-solve, collaborate, and work efficiently!
