Inspiration
Many children, especially those from low-income communities, do not have access to the people, environments, or experiences that allow them to truly explore their dream careers and understand what those careers involve. Exposure plays a major role in a child’s development and ability to fully imagine and pursue their future goals.
We wanted to create a platform that allows children to step into the world of different professions in a fun, interactive, and educational way. “In The Life Of” gives users the opportunity to explore careers they already dream about, as well as careers they may have never considered before, helping them gain awareness, understanding, and inspiration for their future.
What it does
“In The Life Of” is an interactive career simulation game designed for children and teenagers. Users can choose from different professions such as Doctor, Teacher, Chef, Firefighter, and Astronaut, then experience a “day in the life” of that career through colorful, task-based gameplay.
Each profession contains multiple levels with interactive environments, animated actions, outfit changes, and career-related activities. Players complete tasks by interacting with hotspots in the scene, allowing them to visually experience what professionals in those careers do on a daily basis.
The platform combines education and gameplay to make career exploration more engaging, accessible, and immersive for young users.
How we built it
We used MeDo to build the platform using an iterative development approach rather than relying on a single large prompt. We first focused on establishing the foundation of the application before gradually expanding the experience feature by feature.
We started with simple quiz-like profile interactions and progressively evolved the platform into a fully interactive visual simulation experience. Development was approached step-by-step; beginning with basic 1D interfaces before expanding into richer animated environments, and building one level first before scaling into full three-level career experiences.
This iterative workflow helped us better guide MeDo toward producing the specific gameplay mechanics, animations, and interfaces we envisioned for children.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was publishing the application through MeDo. The deployment process was slow at times and occasionally failed, which affected iteration speed during development. Another challenge was refining the interactive gameplay experience and ensuring that each career environment felt visually distinct, engaging, and appropriate for younger users.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our ability to effectively guide MeDo into building the experience we envisioned. One of our biggest accomplishments was successfully creating unique career environments across multiple levels, each with its own tasks, visuals, and interactions.
We are especially proud of the colorful and visually engaging interfaces designed for children. Each profession includes themed environments, interactive objects, and animated actions that make the experience both educational and fun. The platform successfully transforms career exploration into an immersive and interactive experience rather than a passive learning activity.
