Inspiration
We are inspired to design a simple yet modern user interface for an in-flight entertainment system that is easy to use and provides custom tailored recommendations and suggestions for in-flight entrainment. We understand the struggle of how challenging it could be to find he right movie, music and tv shows that keeps us entertained in our long flights so we decided to tackle the problem and built an in-flight entertainment system that is personalized and welcoming.
What it does
Our in-flight entertainment system revolves around collected data and information of passengers and frequent flyers. It can provide a personalized interaction and entertainment suggestion by having passengers login into their account for the airline. By login in, the in-flight entertainment system can recognize the passenger and tailor the recommendations and experience to them and to other people of a similar demographic.
How we built it
We built it through Figma and did most of our low and hi fidelity mock ups ass well as our prototype and wireframe through Figma. The in-flight entertainment system was built with many use of scrolling through entertainment selections and clicking through to navigate to different screens through the use of smart animate and components.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge we ran into was the lack of time for the project which we could have used to really refine the user interface and complete the experience. We also had a lot of trouble thinking about how we can record passenger data for a more tailored experience. We thought about making a passenger survey, passenger login and scanning passenger's boarding passes. Another challenge was finding a right color scheme for our fonts so that it's readable in the different background we had in our interface. One of the biggest challenges was debugging many of our scrolling animations in Figma to get them to work with smart animate as Amy and Camille had an intermediate level of using the Figma software.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
What we are proud of that made our in-flight entertainments system stand out was our moving background in our welcome and login screen as well as our ideas of displaying in-flight announcements while maintaining the user interface. I think those aspects would really make our user interface standout from the rest. We are proud that we can accomplish so much in such a short time.
What we learned
We learned that we can accomplish so much if such a short time as long as we put our minds into the project.
What's next for In-Flight Entertainment System - Team Dynamic Design
Moving forward, we would conduct more user testing to see if there are any room for improvements in our in-flight entertainment system. We would also add more room for suggestions besides entertainment such as suggestions for food and travel and inflight services. We would even try looking into more ways to collect passenger information and data such as the possibility of a end of flight survey to have passengers rate their experience. There are many room to expand and improve if given more time and a lot we can implement that would make out passenger's in-flight experience more immersive.
