Inspiration

We were inspired by the complication of making flash cards. Making multiple flashcards while switching tabs can be annoying and making one singular flashcard without the creation tools open can be worse. We wanted to reduce the friction as much as possible to enhance learning. We also created a web application so that the complication can be completely reduced through sharing and exploration of other countries.

What it does

Our chrome extension allows the user to enter terms and descriptions and save them easily as a CSV file for import. While our web page allows users to explore flashcards made by others worldwide.

How we built it

We built the chrome extension using Javascript, CSS, and HTML while the web application was build with Django, DjangoRestFramework and React.

Challenges we ran into

Chrome extensions prevent us from making inline changes to HTML thus making it hard to pass through input into the text boxes. There was also a lot of confusion around Django and React work.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of our application's promotion of sharing and of its practicality.

What we learned

We learned a lot about how chrome extensions work and gained a much better understanding of Django and React.

What's next for In a Flash

We want to incorporate pictures and we would like to polish up the web application. We also had image to text technology that we can integrate with pictures.
