Improving online learning through repitition

Inspiration

The inspiration behind this project was the constant confusion and frustration that many of us had to deal with during online learning. Whether through forgetting homework assignments, miscommunication with teachers, or the overall hassle of having to submit work online, none of us had enjoyed online learning. We thought that if there was just an easier way to do your homework, it would take a lot of the stress and frustration of online learning away.

What it does

This app creates a clean, organized place for students to keep track of their assignments. One of the biggest problems with most planner apps is that many students don't want to have to enter all of their homework assignments in themselves, and while Schoology currently has teachers entering the assignments, it is at times tedious to use, and prone to causing confusion. By creating an app that makes it easy for teachers to assign work, and for students to submit it, online learning becomes a lot easier.

How we built it

We built this prototype using Figma. Very few of us had much experience in web design or creating apps, and so we had to improvise a bit. Using Figma was a great way to flesh out our ideas and to create a functional first model.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges that we ran into was our inexperience with web development and app creation. Most of us had out tech skills in other areas and were not prepared to create an app

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite these challenges, we were able to learn the basics of designing a model through Figma and now have a start to a real project. This is something that none of us had ever done something like this and it was really satisfying to see everything come together in the end

What we learned

We learned some of the basics of design and working with app creation along the way. This was a really satisfying experience in that we were able to figure things out and see results quickly.

What's next for Improving online learning through repetition

The next step for us would be to collect more ideas and information from the student body on what might be useful for an app like this. The most important people to ask for features are the people that would be using it, and so getting feedback from teachers and students would be incredibly helpful in improving and creating features.
