Improving all-cause death statistics worldwide

Inspiration

After struggling to obtain data on all causes of death in different regions during the covid-19 pandemic, I thought it would be a good idea to enable people to report deaths through an app.Euromomo.org provides quality data on European death stats but it is 2 weeks behind current deaths and it does not provide data on each cause of death.

What it does

The App would enable users to report deaths and their most likely cause. After further investigation the most likely cause of death could be updated. This would create an up-to-date databank of the number of deaths and their causes. It would also provide valuable information on the epidemiologic profile of this population.

How I built it

Creating a simple App in which users would sign up, log in, and report deaths. They would later log back in to update details if required.

Challenges I ran into

Ideally users should inform the deceased national identification number, to avoid duplicates and incorrect information. If blockchain technology could be incorporated that would be awesome, but it is just an idea.

The idea is still in its infancy.
