Inspiration
We built Improva to make issue reporting in public and shared spaces much easier. In many cities, campuses, sports facilities, ports, and large venues, reporting a maintenance problem is still slow, fragmented, and often unclear for the person submitting it. On the management side, teams also struggle to centralize reports, assign them internally, and track resolution efficiently.
Our goal was to create a simple, map-based and multilingual experience that works for both sides: the person reporting an issue and the team responsible for solving it.
What it does
Improva is a multilingual issue reporting platform for public and private spaces.
Users can report maintenance issues directly on a map, attach photos, describe the problem, and submit it in just a few steps. On the other side, management teams receive the issue in a centralized platform where they can review it, assign it, update its status, and resolve it.
The platform is designed for environments such as municipalities, sports clubs, campuses, shopping centers, resorts, ports, and other large shared spaces.
Key features include:
- Map-based issue reporting
- Photo upload and geolocation
- Multilingual experience
- Centralized issue management
- Assignment and internal coordination
- Status tracking from report to resolution
- Support for both public and private entities
How we built it
We built Improva as a cross-platform solution combining mobile and web technologies.
The mobile app was developed with Flutter and Dart, allowing users to report issues from iOS and Android devices. The management platform and web experience were built with Laravel, PHP, Livewire, MySQL, Tailwind CSS, and Vite.
For location-based reporting, we integrated Google Maps Platform to let users pinpoint incidents precisely on the map. We also structured the product so organizations can manage multiple entities and teams from a single platform.
The result is a system that connects a user-friendly reporting flow with a more operational back office for issue management.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was designing a reporting flow that feels extremely simple for end users while still capturing the operational data needed by management teams.
Another challenge was balancing flexibility and structure. Different organizations may have different spaces, categories, workflows, and internal roles, so the platform had to be adaptable without becoming too complex.
We also had to think carefully about multilingual support, geolocation accuracy, photo handling, and how to make the same product useful across many different real-world environments.
What we learned
This project reinforced how important usability is in operational software. Even a powerful management platform will fail if reporting an issue is too slow or confusing.
We also learned that location and clarity matter a lot in maintenance workflows. A precise location, a photo, and a simple category can dramatically improve how quickly a team understands and resolves a problem.
Finally, we learned that building for real-world spaces means designing for many types of users: visitors, staff, managers, and administrators all need different levels of simplicity and control.
What's next for Improva
Our next steps are focused on making Improva even more scalable and useful for organizations managing large or complex spaces.
We want to continue improving the web reporting experience, expand management tools, refine workflows for different team roles, and strengthen multilingual support. We also see strong potential in analytics, reporting insights, and faster deployment for organizations that want to launch issue reporting in minutes.
