Inspiration
A world where working is optional and you can do anything and everything you want. When holiday season hits the university students on their 3-month summer break, suddenly, you no longer want to do anything that you longed to do during exam season. Using this feeling as inspiration, we decided to build an app that encourages people to embrace their creativity and make things from scratch even if tools like AI or unlimited templates (no more free wall barrier) are abundant.
What it does
- IMPRINT Lens: Take a photo of a physical piece of art or upload a screenshot of a digital creation to analyse how it was made. IMPRINT calculates a score based on how much AI was used (AI Score), how unique the creation is (Originality Score), and the ranking of the creator.
- Profile Page: IMPRINT collates all the creations of the creator across platforms. Displays their overall AI Score, Originality Score and number of verified IMPRINTs.
- IMPRINT Upload: Upload your creation to be considered for an IMPRINT badge. The IMPRINT badge verifies that your creation has an AI Score below 10 and Originality Score above 80. In order to IMPRINT, all users must have a fingerprint to confirm that they are indeed a human being.
How we built it
We started with a brainstorm of the app's core features, before sketching out how each page would look. We then moved to Figma to begin designing. We used prototyping to connect related features and bring buttons to life.
Challenges we ran into
We had to quickly review our Figma skills and make ends meet using the Free version of Figma. As our app is built on the idea that an algorithm is able to integrate and determine scores based on the context surrounding the creation of the object, we struggled to determine scores and description.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As non-design students, we are proud of our ability to quickly learn Figma and incorporate as many UI/UX principles as we could learn in the timeframe.
What we learned
We improved our prototyping skills by learning to use frames. We also learned how to use arcs to create donut graphs.
What's next for IMPRINT
With increasing "AI Slop", we see a potential for IMPRINT to exist in the current world too and would like to solidify the functions and use cases of the app for real world implementation.
