Inspiration

The inspiration for the project comes from websites or apps where playing results in a donation of some sort, whether through revenue earned with advertisements or engagement with the game itself. We wanted to bring this idea to a community level, sort of mimicking community supported agriculture (CSA) but including a wider audience and digitizing it, creating a solution that mimics CSAs in a way that is relevant to the present, and will remain relevant in the future, where low income and food insecurity will always be an issue

What it does

The premise of our game is that any proceeds from transactions made for in game items go towards donations to the community. This ties together the audience of people that play video video games with the people who are in need of aid in rural communities, such as food insecurity.

How we built it

We build it on the platform Godot.

Challenges we ran into

We faced issues using a software and language we weren't familiar with, and our biggest challenge was learning how to create the game we wanted, along with finishing everything on a timeline that allowed each other to build off it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of overcoming our lack of knowledge and learning how to use this software to create a functional game that represents the idea we came up with.

What we learned

We learned how to better communicate with our team to allow each other to complete tasks that needed to be done to make further progress on our project.

What's next for ImpactRun

In the future, our goal for ImpactRun is that we wish to add more games to increase the appeal for gamers to play, and to create a better system for purchasing in-game currency or items.
