Inspiration

This project was inspired by the difficulty of getting involved in volunteering as a high school student. When searching for opportunities online, we often struggled to find reliable opportunities or lacked proof of their participation afterward. This gap motivated us to build a platform that connects volunteers with real opportunities while ensuring their impact is recorded and verifiable.

What it does

This platform connects volunteers with real community service opportunities and verifies their participation. It then tracks their impact through a profile that includes verified hours, badges, and shareable proof for resumes or LinkedIn.

How we built it

We built the project as a web-based platform by using a no-code tool (base44). It is combined with a structured database for managing users and events. The system includes:

• A volunteer event listing system.
• A registration feature for users to join activities.
• A profile system that tracks participation history.
• A verification system after finishing activities.
• QR check-in before events.
• An impact dashboard showing total hours and contributions.

Challenges we ran into

The challenge was designing a system that balances simplicity and trust. We needed the platform to be easy for users to join events, while also ensuring that participation is authentic and verified.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have built a functional end-to-end volunteer platform that connects users to real opportunities and addresses unverified participation. Our system turns volunteers' activities into a structured, shareable impact profile.

What we learned

Through this project, I learned:

• How to design a real-world social impact platform.
• The importance of verification systems in community apps.
• How data structure affects scalability and features. -How technology can be used to encourage civic engagement.

What's next for ImpactID

I plan to improve AI-based matching, strengthen verification systems, and partner with school and nonprofits to make volunteer impact officially recognized and widely accepted.
