What inspired us

We’re two high schoolers passionate about volunteering. However, when we entered high school, we noticed a significant problem—students, including ourselves, were struggling to find suitable volunteering opportunities. We realized that traditional methods, like browsing community center websites with bad navigation, discourage volunteers from giving back to their community. This challenge inspired us to create ImpactQuest, an intuitive app designed to streamline the process for both volunteers and supervisors.

What it does

Impact Quest is an app designed to seamlessly connect volunteers with organizations and supervisors. It offers personalized volunteering opportunities based on users' interests and qualifications, providing all necessary details, requirements, and application processes. Additionally, the app allows volunteers to track their past experiences and completed hours, making it an ideal tool for those passionate about giving back to the community in a more efficient and organized way.

How we built it

We utilized Canva, a user-interface development tool, to design and bring our project to life. Its intuitive features allowed us to create a visually appealing and user-friendly app interface that effectively meets the needs of our target audience.

Challenges we ran into

The overall idea was difficult to come up with, and finding a software capable of capturing our vision was also incredibly challenging. Also, it was difficult to plan our app such that users would find it easy and intuitive to use. All in all, it was difficult using a new software that was able to capture our vision and make it a reality. However, it was an incredible first experience just the same.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

As this is our first hackathon, we’re proud of ourselves for having the courage to compete and create a project that aligns with our vision and could potentially benefit our community. We’re especially proud of the prototype we developed, which reflects our dedication and brings our ideas to life in a way that we’re truly satisfied with.

What we learned

We learned about the features required to make a UI for an app, how to create a prototype, and how to choose the sweet-spot between practical and imaginative ideas to ensure that our app can potentially be used in our day-to-day life.

What's next for Impact Quest

Our next step is to make this app come to life with fully functional features that can provide the user with an experience that realistically aids them in providing them with a smooth volunteer-finding experience.
