What is the problem your solution addresses?

Many young folks are eager to get involved in their community, but don’t know how to get started and face difficulties in gathering accurate event details through social media posts. Advertising events via social media is a game of telephone. Inconsistencies are bound to appear across several posts and googling specifics is like digging for a needle in a haystack. This may potentially cause danger, especially if someone maliciously spreads the wrong information. Our app, Impact, addresses the need to centralize event information by creating a hub for those interested in sparking change within their community. We ultimately aim to make it easier for this new generation of activists to take action and exercise their rights in a safe manner by providing a more efficient, engaging, and informative user experience.

Why did you pick this solution, and how does it address the problem?

We decided to build an app that serves as a hub for users who are looking for events that address social issues and hopefully encourage others to get involved. Impact mainly serves as a platform to find the most accurate event details, as well as a network to connect and engage with others who are passionate about the same issues. Users can keep up with events by subscribing to receive notifications and interact with fellow attendees through the event’s channels to seek prep tips, rides, and live updates. The app also provides an informational guide that users can refer to, to find ways to prepare for the event, and learn about general event safety. Through Impact, we hope to minimize the spread of misinformation, encourage young folks to exercise their rights, and create a safe environment for newcomers to get involved.
