Citizen DAO - Social Impact Bonds

Inspiration

In 2015, the United Nations created 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to be achieved by 2030. These are bold goals with a blueprint to make the world a better place.

However, we’re not even close to achieving those goals. We're even regressing in areas like global hunger. The biggest problem we've identified is poor capital coordination, both human & financial.

To top it off, we’re ~$4 trillion short on annual funding needs. The capital is there, we’re just not using it effectively.

We believe Web3 offers a better way to coordinate capital for achieving these goals.

What it does

We've created 17 impact funds to fund projects targeting the 17 goals. Citizen DAO members vote projects in for funding.

We've built Social Impact Bonds to raise the capital for the funds. These bonds are ERC-1155 NFTs that generate yield in CDAO, our governance token.

For projects to receive funding, we actually swap tokens with them. A portion of tokens go back to the impact fund treasury, and a portion goes back to the bond holders pro rata.

The cool part is that the Bond (NFT) now converts to an Index Fund that holds various project tokens in that goal. These are all tradable.

What's next for Impact Protocol for Social Impact Bonds

Citizen DAO is having its official launch Dec 1 on Mirror. We will raise funds to pay for audits of out bond contracts, then we will deploy to mainnet and start funding projects.
