Equitability, Sustainability, and Inclusivity are words that need to become a part of the discussions of models that promote the financial health and strength of our country.
What it does
A platform for community organizers to meet with impact investors. An industry that may hit $2 Trillion by 2020, it focuses on empowering communities by letting them decide/tell investors how they want the impact investments spent, and not the other way around which is currently the case.
How I built it
Challenges I ran into
A major challenge is implementing a user accounts, with a voting system and a transaction system.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I am proud that I managed to formalize my idea for the most part. It is missing in some details, in some technical aspects, but the overarching idea is concrete and not broad or aimless.
What I learned
I learned a lot about the issues of gentrification, impact investment, and community organizing.
What's next for Impact
Secure user accounts, maybe leave the monetary transactions to proper financial institutions but still help community organizers and impact investors to connect by providing them a pledge system. At some point maybe open it to allow more than just investors to give capital, letting smaller players into the site.
