Inspiration

People are unaware of the opportunities ArcGIS presents to solve problems geographically.

What it does

Impact-a-pedia is an interactive and educational experience designed to inspire minds of all ages to create the world they want to see by harnessing the power of ArcGIS. Impact-a-pedia educates K-12 and college students about how ArcGIS software can positively impact the world, serves as a user-friendly repository of all completed Esri products, promotes a culture of seamless knowledge sharing, and propels customer success by showcasing the impact of Esri's capabilities in an interactive portfolio.

How we built it

To build impact-a-pedia, we utilized vanilla javascript, html, and css for our frontend. With our backend we took advantage of multiple ArcGIS products such as ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS SDK for Javascript, and ArcGIS Pro, while also scrapping information from Esri websites

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenge was taking the information regarding the companies that Esri has worked with and feeding it into our feature layers so we can present it to our user.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of our teamwork, problem solving, and ability to integrate ArcGIS products into our application.

What we learned

We obtained a stronger understanding of Esri's software and a more detailed perspective of how Esri has impacted the world.

What's next for Impact-a-pedia

Deploy to small test groups of users and create new iterations of Impact-a-pedia to best serve our users. Then launch to K-12 and college students, Esri (can be used in intern and employee onboarding days as well as an internal repository), and potential customers as a portfolio showcase.
