Identifying people who have acquired immunity to Covid-19 either through recovering from illness or receiving a vaccine is a key component of the national responses to the crisis. By identifying immune employees, it is possible to provide better healthcare while protecting the workers, for example by staffing elderly homes with immune people who are not at risk of introducing the disease into the facility. As there are strong incentives to falsify an immunity certificate in order to gain access to a more lucrative job, the immunity certificate needs to contain strong security features. At the same time, the immunity certificate should be convenient and easy to show so that its use becomes ubiquitous. Balancing the user-friendliness, security, and respect for user privacy lies at the core of our project.
