Inspiration
Inspired by the recent virus outbreak in China, we decided to make a game about a doctor with his syringe shooting corona-viruses.
What it does
The HTML page gives helpful advice on the symptoms and the prevention of COVID-19, as well as real-time updates on the spread of the virus world-wide.
How I built it
We built the website using HTML.
Challenges I ran into
One big challenge was having to learn an entirely new language (JavaScript) overnight and putting our knowledge into practice immediately. Another challenge was synchronizing the front and back end of our program.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We are proud to have produced a working prototype game under the short time constraint. We are also happy that we are able to target and provide guidance to a current problem and hopefully give concise, useful information to our target audience.
What I learned
We did extensive research on the COVID-19 virus, learning a lot ourselves through the process about symptoms, preventio, and the current worldwide situation progress. Furthermore, we learned how to use JavaScript to code, which was entirely new to us just yesterday afternoon. In CEGEP, we only learned how to code with Python, so tackling Java was definitely a challenge we are proud of.
What's next for Immune system invaders
If we had more time, we would have improved the graphics by making them smoother and more realistic. We would also establish a scoring system, ascending levels, and a more customizable UI. We would also better relate our game to our initial goals, which is to sensitize people to properly educate themselves on the COVID-19 and to be better prepared.
