Help us support innocents lives and help them settle

Inspiration

Our main inspiration is us being immigrants as we didn't have enough support and resources, it was hard to settle and find resources related to school work and many personal issues. Our inspiration is also the immigrants and refugees that are currently affected by war or conflict in their country. Many people from Ukraine are currently migrating to Canada and are having a hard time learning and adapting English language and finding new jobs for their families.

What it does

Our app's purpose is to support refugees and immigrants and help them learn and find new resources faster, so they can settle in Canada and quickly adapt to the new environment. This app always offers many English video lessons for students and adults to learn and adapt. It also provides many job opportunities and resources for newcomers to find a start-up job and help earn some money.

How we built it

We built it using Java, JavaFX, scene builder, XML style sheets. We used google slides for our presentation and a designer tool for creating the logo.

Challenges we ran into

Due to less amount of time, we had a hard time picking our main idea and interpreting it in code or application, there were a few code issues but as a team, we were able to manage and solve the problem.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to work in a limited amount of time and construct the application with a strong idea, we are proud to make an app that helps current immigrants and refugees from Ukraine and many other countries.

What we learned

We learned about multicultural in Canada and came across many resources, we also learned a lot from each other as everyone came from a different background of coding knowledge
