Civic Aid: An Immigration Visa & Green Card Assistant

Our project, Civic Aid, was inspired by our families’ struggles to navigate the immigration process and the overwhelming amount of information online. Between social media, news outlets, and unofficial forums, it’s hard to know what’s accurate and one wrong piece of advice can change a person’s future. We built an AI assistant that cuts through the noise, providing verified, up-to-date information, along with real contact numbers for emergencies, legal aid, and crisis support. Using React + Vite for a fast, responsive frontend, Google Gemini API for intelligent, conversational guidance, and ElevenLabs API for natural voice responses, we created a digital companion that helps users find clarity, empathy, and direction when they need it most. Despite challenges like API integration, time pressure, and data validation, we learned to prototype efficiently, and design for accessibility. Ultimately, our goal is to make trustworthy immigration help simple, personal, and available to anyone, because no one should have to face this journey alone and figure it out alone.
