Inspiration

Our inspiration for this project comes from our background and our love for music. With each team member having travelled to various cities, we wanted to put it on ourselves to immersify and provide this experience to anybody who chooses to use our website, whether or not they can visit the city.

What it does

Our site allows users to select a city on a globe along with the genre of music they want to listen to and generates of songs of cultural significance accordingly.

How we built it

We built this website using an html/css front-end while incorporating a flask framework back-end using flask. We used a virtual environment while using Git to allow all team members to clone and edit the code.

Challenges we ran into

This task was not easy and our most prominent challenge was integrating the Spotify API to get interactive labels for all the songs to allow users to listen on our website.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to create the entire website, but a few tasks that stand out the most would be the Spotify API integration and the creation of the map where users can click on various cities to get their desired cultural music.

What we learned

This project and hackathon served as a great learning experience for all of us, allowing us to learn proper collaboration in a programming based environment along with skills like front and back end in html and python, respectively.

What's next for Immersify

We hope to diversify the amount of cities, allowing a user to explore the music of the world just a few clicks on their computer. We hope to add more features which allow users to further specify their experience, making it truly special to them.
