Inspiration
To take a path in developing our enter we decided to look at our everyday life, fears and difficulties in this hard time of quarantine due to COVID-19 emergency.
Talking with friends and navigating on social media, most of people are spending their time in watching films and TV series on streaming services. Passionate about this world, we found ourselves in the situation of finishing a just-came-out series and wanted to comment with friends, but they didn’t finished that series yet or they prefer other kind of series and in this moments of forced homestaying it’s not easy for everyone to keep in touch with people and express themselves.
So we came up with IMHO, an acronym that stays for “In My Humble Opinion”.
What it does
The app is really simple. After the registration, IMHO will ask you to select the series you already watched in the list of the series of the moment; based on how many series you selected, the app will give you a ranking medal and will build your personal profile, in which you can add more series and upgrade your level.
In the homepage, you will see a big list of popular series, the number of seasons each and how many people is commenting them in the chats at the moment. You only need to choose a series, choose the last season you watched, and you will enter in the chat, in which you’ll be able to pin a topic, change it, tag people in messages and also report a message for Spoiler!
How we built it
We decided to focus on the flow of the App and its UI/UX. So our goal was to accomplish clear interfaces in which the user can navigate with no much effort, without getting lost in the flow.
The whole prototype was built in Adobe Xd, starting from pencil wireframes of the views. We approached to the project drawing from the iOS guidelines and confronted/built our solution in one project on the collaborative mode of Adobe Xd.
Challenges we ran into
This is our first Hackathon and for us it’s been a strange but cool experience. We’re kinda used to find digital solutions to real problems in few days, but this time we had to develop an idea and also wrap it into a nice paper in a really short time. We opted for something fresh and for a light topic, in contrast with the heavy situation this quarantine brought us. We had the chance to use bright and modern colors, creating a carefree safe space to let the user express his/her ideas on the activity he/she does the most.
What's next for IMHO
For future implementation we would like to have of course the app fully developed, but we are also thinking of adding a new feature about the Spoiler Report to make it more functional with a sort of gamification: could be nice to have a maximum number of "Spoiler chances" before getting banned for some days from the app.
