Inspiration

The Monsoon Season brings great rainfall to the eastern and southern parts of Pakistan. However, due the climate change, and other geopolitical factors, 33 million people in Pakistan are affected because of floods. They lost their homes, livestock, and even farmland, bearing the ripe harvest.

Since Pakistan is an agricultural country, most of its exports are Cotton and Rice. This flooding not only causes economical damage but also results in food shortages for people in the country.

This humanitarian crisis needs some help from the tech side as well, and I made this application to help my fellow citizens to be safe in these tough times.

What it does

A one-stop place, where they can find everything, from evacuating them to safe places to providing them food, and medicine, and also giving them monetary aid.

How we built it

It is built only on Figma since I know the UI/UX part. I do not get any team members despite showing my availability on the forum. However, such difficulties can not stop me from achieving what I believe.

Challenges we ran into

Since a large part of the country does not understand English, I tried to make it in Urdu as well since Urdu is the national Language of the country.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Food Security is one of the things that is very concerning. Starvation, famines, and hunger kill more people around the world than smoking.

In addition to the food security, we also aim to provide Healthcareand clean water & sanitation, in compliance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals numbers 2, 3, and 6 respectively.

I am proud to address this issue, as people who are stranded in floods do not have enough food, and they do not even have access to clean drinking water. These areas also lack hygiene, and this application is also providing sanitary pads to women who are stuck in such areas.

What we learned

I learned quite a few things, and most importantly, I felt for the people who are suffering due to climate change and it will however increase in coming years.

What's next for Imdad

Since I am learning Flutter, a cross-platform application can be made, and it would be easier to download it. Moreover, I want to expand it and make it more generalized. For example, it can work as an SOS in times of emergency, because such things can happen in any developed or developing country, due to the changing dynamics of the world due to Climate Change.
