Imagic was born out of frustration

As a product builder and marketer, I constantly needed design assets. App icons, store screenshots, ads, social covers. And the process was a nightmare: jumping between ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok for prompts, generating images in Flux or Midjourney, fixing them in Figma or Canva. Too many tools, too many subscriptions, too much time wasted

If I struggled this much, what chance do small business owners have? People who just need a flyer for their café or a logo for their shop are forced to waste weeks and hundreds of dollars for something that should take minutes.

So I made IMAGIC: AI design app that UNDERSTANDS your business and gives you instant, editable graphics in seconds

The release was close to perfect

3 days, 590 installs, $882 MRR, 4.8 rating, 80% finish onboarding, 6% converts to paid.
I talked to first users and...

I learned one thing

Users don’t care about “AI pipelines” or templates. They want three buttons: create, edit, download. That’s it.
So I need to simplify process as much as possible.

And I iterated product with new features

Product Analysis - drop any link and app gets your product info to use it later for every design
Auto Prompt Optimization - much better results without prompt engineering
Surprise Me Mode - helps start with something if you're out of ideas
Magic Edit - just type what's wrong in a design and app will fix it
Multiplue Variants By Default - not every idea sticks, that’s why you get a batch to choose from

The toughest challenge is not the tech

It is growth. I nailed ASO and got ~600 installs during the first 3 days (boost period). Numbers were great. Strong onboarding conversion, healthy subscription uptake, and high subs retention (half of them still pay every week!). But once the boost ended, downloads dropped to 5–10 a day, and most of them were irrelevant. That forced me to dive deep into distribution: experimenting with Meta Ads, Google Ads, and optimizing the App Store page. Appstore is now pay to play.

What's next??

I have so many ideas to build but I need to focus on gettting new users first. I will continue experimenting with Meta Ads and optimize the Appstore Page to get at least 100 relevant installs a day (I know it's totally achievable if you find a right key).

I really believe in this app, so I'm going to invest in it lots of my time and money!
