After the devastating California wildfires, thousands of families were left not only grieving their losses but also navigating the frustrating, time-consuming process of filing insurance claims. Imagine standing in the ruins of your home, trying to remember every item you owned—sofas, electronics, artwork—each one needing documentation to prove it existed. In an already traumatic time, the process of gathering proof of loss can feel like an impossible task.

We saw this problem firsthand and knew technology could help. Our platform was built to simplify insurance claims with AI-powered image classification. Instead of struggling to recall lost possessions, users can simply upload photos of their homes—whether from before the disaster or whatever remains after. Our app automatically identifies furniture, electronics, and valuables that can be included in their claim, making the process faster, more accurate, and far less stressful.

To bring this vision to life, we leveraged a powerful tech stack:

Frontend: Built with ReactJS, styled with Material UI and TailwindCSS, and optimized using Vite for fast performance. Backend: Powered by FastAPI, with Poetry managing dependencies and XAMPP handling database and server needs. AI Integration: We incorporated OpenAI's image recognition capabilities to ensure high accuracy in identifying household items. For those rebuilding their lives, every bit of support counts. By turning photos into proof-of-loss documentation, we help users get the compensation they deserve without added frustration. What once took hours of research, paperwork, and back-and-forth with insurers can now be streamlined with just a few clicks.

Because in times of crisis, the last thing anyone should have to worry about is proving what they’ve lost.
