We wanted to make something that was more backend intensive and although it was over-ambitious for a 24 hour hackathon, we both had fun!

What it does

Using Google's Cloud Vision API and OCR technology, we will use images of events (think poster or webpage screenshot) to create an event in your Google Calendar with the correct title, date, and description.

How we built it

Using Google's Cloud Vision API to use their Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology, Node.js, and Google Calendar API.

Challenges we ran into

A huge hurdle we had to overcome was following the Google Documentation to install all the required libraries and verify if the correct files had been installed and connected. It was difficult to verify and we came across many command line errors that we did not know how to resolve. Another issue was the lack of available libraries in JavaScript that were able to format and parse the dates in the way that we needed.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Being able to set up the API lol.

What we learned

Node.js, Google APIs, GCP
