Inspiration
Our inspiration came from brainstorming ideas that aligned with the criteria of each sponsor category. We chose to focus on Helsing AI's "Best Use of AI to Improve Human Decision-Making," recognizing the growing challenge of misinformation. This issue deeply resonated with us, given its increasing prevalence and impact on decision-making.
What it does
Our project is a browser extension that analyses the first image from news articles and traces its earliest appearance on Google. It then analyses the original context of the image, compares it with the content of the article, and uses AI to provide a credibility assessment of the image’s relevance and accuracy in the article.
How we built it
We decided that a browser plugin would be the most effective way to deliver our solution. This meant using JavaScript for the front-end. For the back-end, we leveraged Python, combining our skills to handle image scraping, analysis, and credibility assessment efficiently.
Challenges Faced
We encountered difficulties scraping images from Google, for comparison, and several APIs didn’t quite meet our needs. However, after taking a fresh approach on Sunday morning, we finally found a solution that worked, overcoming the technical block and getting our project back on track.
