Inspiration :

IloveLaiyuhin was inspired by a desire to preserve the legacy of someone deeply cherished. Laiyuhin's influence—whether through quiet acts of kindness, mentorship, or unwavering support—deserved a space where stories could be shared, remembered, and celebrated. This project began as a tribute, but evolved into a platform for collective memory and emotional connection.

What it does

IloveLaiyuhin is a digital tribute platform that allows users to: • Share personal stories, messages, and reflections. • Browse curated memories and themed collections. • Submit tributes using Markdown and LaTeX formatting for expressive storytelling. • View visual timelines and interactive memory maps. It’s designed to be both intimate and scalable, supporting a growing archive of heartfelt contributions.

How we built it

We used a modern full-stack architecture: • Frontend: React + Tailwind CSS for responsive design. • Backend: Node.js with Express, connected to MongoDB. • Authentication: OAuth 2.0 for secure user access. • Markdown & LaTeX Support: Integrated and to allow expressive formatting, such as: \text{Legacy} = \int_{t_0}^{t_n} \text{Impact}(t) \, dt • Deployment: Vercel for frontend hosting, with GitHub Actions for CI/CD.

Challenges we ran into

• Emotional sensitivity: Designing for grief and remembrance required thoughtful UX decisions. • LaTeX rendering: Ensuring mathematical expressions didn’t break layout or accessibility. • Content moderation: Balancing open expression with respectful boundaries. • Scalability: Optimizing database queries and caching for growing user submissions.
