Ilog — AI Care Handoff for Families

Inspiration

Caring for a baby is a shared job, but the information is usually fragmented. One caregiver remembers the last feeding, another knows when the baby slept, and important context gets lost in messages, notes, and handoffs.

Ilog is designed to make a family's care history understandable at a glance, not just stored.

What it does today

Ilog is a mobile family care log built with Expo and Supabase. Families can record feeding, sleep, diaper changes, temperature, medication, pumping, growth, vaccinations, hospital visits, and notes. It also includes shared tasks, reminders, family chat, photo sharing, notifications, a timeline, and category-based statistics.

What I am building during OpenAI Build Week

I am adding an AI Care Handoff powered by GPT-5.6.

With one tap, Ilog will turn a family's recent structured records, open tasks, reminders, and selected conversation context into a clear handoff:

• What happened today
• What needs attention next
• Which tasks are still open and who can take them
• Questions the next caregiver may need to know
• A concise, shareable summary for the family

The goal is not to give medical advice. It is to reduce missed context and coordination stress between caregivers.

How OpenAI makes it useful

Instead of a generic chatbot, GPT-5.6 will receive structured, permissioned care data and return a validated JSON handoff. This lets the app render reliable sections such as summaries, open items, and suggested follow-ups while keeping the user in control.

I am using Codex as a coding partner to build the Expo mobile experience, Supabase data flows, testing, and the AI workflow.

Challenges

The main challenge is making AI helpful without making it overwhelming or medically authoritative. Ilog will clearly label AI output as a family coordination aid, preserve the underlying source records, and keep caregivers in control of what is shared.

Why it matters

A better handoff means fewer missed details, less repeated work, and more confidence for every caregiver taking the next shift.
