Inspiration

Our mental health is very often sidelined and unlike our physical health is not given the importance it deserves, which has some severe repercussions on our lives and those of our loved one's. In 2017, a study estimated that, globally, more than one in ten people (10.7%) have some state of mental health disorder, and the worst part is that the numbers are only increasing with time.

What it does

Illuminate, since it's inception, has a very straight-forward idea, which is empowering people across the world to share their current state of mind with others. Our platform helps people opening up, seeking guidance from others views, helping others... With the common motive being, making the world a better place to live in.

How we built it

The Frontend of the application is built in React JS, and the Backend API's are made using the Django REST Framework.

Challenges we ran into

While making the Backend API's, we encountered many bugs, which we eventually resolved over time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We worked relentlessly as a team during the entire duration of the hackathon. Went through many ups and downs during the ideation and development phase of our idea, but we successfully got through it as a strong team.

What we learned

We owe a lot of things to this hackathon, it taught us the power of commitment, consistency, composure and tested the ability of us working under the clock to the fullest. Pulling the amount of work we have done over the duration, at one point seemed unachievable, but hey, we have done it.

What's next for Illuminate

Deploy the project. Shift to a Non-Relational Database to make the application more scalable. Work on design improvements, for the aesthetics.
